A Brazilian blow dry is a semi-permanent smoothing treatment. A keratin-based solution is applied to clean hair, worked through in sections, then sealed into the hair with heat from a blow dryer and straighteners. The result is hair that is smoother, glossier and dramatically faster to dry and style.

Critically, it does not permanently straighten your hair. It is not a chemical relaxer. Your curl pattern is softened and frizz is suppressed, but the treatment gradually washes out over the following months and your natural texture returns unchanged. That is a feature, not a limitation — it means the decision is reversible.

Who does it suit?

It works best on hair that is frizzy, coarse, wavy, or simply exhausting to style. How long does it last?

Typically ten to sixteen weeks, depending on your hair type, how often you wash, and what you wash with. Sulphate-free shampoo makes a genuine difference here — sulphates strip the treatment faster. Salt water and chlorine also shorten it, so a summer holiday will cost you a few weeks.

The fade is gradual and even, which is the best thing about it. There is no harsh regrowth line, no awkward stage. Your natural texture simply returns over time, and you decide whether to repeat it.

What happens on the day

Allow two to three hours depending on hair length and thickness. Your hair is clarified with a deep cleansing shampoo to open the cuticle, the solution is applied section by section, then it is blow dried and sealed with straighteners at a controlled temperature. You leave with your hair already smooth.

Aftercare instructions vary by product. Some formulas need 48 to 72 hours without washing, tying up, or tucking hair behind your ears before the seal sets.
