Visiting Hector's from Richmond: Travel, Parking and What to Book

Richmond is our closest large neighbour and, unsurprisingly, where a large share of our clients come from. If you are in Richmond and weighing up whether it is worth coming down Lower Richmond Road to Mortlake, this is the practical guide: how to get here, how long it takes, where to park, and what Richmond clients actually book.
Where we are
Hector's Global Hair with Zeal is at 73 Lower Richmond Road, Mortlake, London SW14 7HJ. That is the stretch of road running between Mortlake and East Sheen, a short way beyond Richmond Park's Sheen Gate and along the river from Richmond town centre.
Getting here from Richmond
By bus
The 419 runs between Richmond and Hammersmith and passes close to the salon — it is the simplest single-bus route from Richmond town centre. The 33 and 337 also serve the Mortlake and East Sheen corridor.
By train
Mortlake station is one stop from Richmond on the South Western line towards Waterloo, and it is a few minutes walk from our door. For many Richmond clients this is the fastest option at busy times of day.
By car
It is a straightforward run along the Lower Richmond Road, typically eight to twelve minutes off-peak. There is parking on and around the road near the salon. Allow extra time on weekday mornings and Saturday afternoons, when the corridor gets busy.
By bike or on foot
The Thames towpath from Richmond to Mortlake is one of the pleasanter routes in south west London — roughly a twenty minute cycle or a forty-five minute walk. A number of our regulars cycle in, which suits shorter appointments well.
What Richmond clients book most
Hair extensions. Consistently our busiest Richmond service. Because refits fall every six to ten weeks, being genuinely local matters — maintenance visits are a short trip rather than an afternoon out. We fit nano rings, micro rings, tape-ins, keratin bonds and hand-tied wefts, always with remy hair and the refit schedule quoted up front.
Bridal hair. Richmond brides book trials with us ahead of weddings at Richmond venues, along the river, and at Kew. We schedule trials six to eight weeks out so there is time to adjust before the day, and we are close enough for comfortable morning-of styling.
Men's cuts. Fades, tapers, modern mullets and textured crops. Richmond clients often pair a cut with a beard shape in the same appointment.
Braids and afro hair. Knotless braids, feed-in braids, box braids and protective styling, plus colour and bleaching on afro-textured hair — done by specialists rather than by a general salon that occasionally takes it on.
Beauty therapy and colour. Facials including our padding scrub facial, plus colour, balayage and bleaching, frequently combined into a single visit.
Practical tips for Richmond clients
- Book the first appointment of the day if you are driving on a weekday — the road is quietest before the school run.
- Combine services in one visit. If you want colour and a cut, tell us at booking so the time is allocated properly.
- Book your refit or next appointment before you leave. Extension refits and fade tidies both work on a schedule, and planning ahead saves chasing a slot.
- Come to the consultation with photos and your honest hair history — including anything box-dyed.
Why Richmond clients stay with us
Hector's has been on Lower Richmond Road since 2003 and is a multi-award-winning salon. What our Richmond regulars tell us they value is not the awards, though — it is the consultation. We will say when your hair needs recovery time, when a method is wrong for your density, or when a reference photo is not achievable on your hair in one appointment.
You can see our awards, press coverage and client testimonials on this site, and read our Richmond service area page for the full local service list.
