What is a padding scrub facial?

Quick answer
A padding scrub facial is a gentle exfoliating facial where a fine scrub is patted or pressed into the skin rather than rubbed hard. It lifts dull surface cells without the friction of a coarse scrub so it suits sensitive skin and darker skin tones prone to irritation.
Hi! I saw padding scrub facial on your beauty menu. What actually is it?
It is an exfoliating facial with a gentler technique. Instead of scrubbing in circles the therapist pads or presses a fine-grain scrub into the skin in sections then lifts it away. You get the brightening effect of exfoliation without dragging or micro-tearing the surface.
Is it good for sensitive skin? I go red really easily.
That is exactly who it suits best. Redness-prone skin sensitive skin and skin that reacts to harsh scrubs usually tolerate the padding technique well. It is also a good choice for deeper skin tones where friction can trigger post-inflammatory marks. We always patch assess first and adjust pressure and grain size to your skin.
How long does it take and what happens on the day?
Allow around 45 to 60 minutes. We cleanse assess your skin apply the scrub using the padding method then remove it with warm compresses. After that we tone hydrate and finish with a mask or serum depending on what your skin needs that day. Most clients leave looking brighter with no downtime.
How often should I have one?
Every four to six weeks works for most people. Oilier or congested skin can go every three to four weeks. Very dry or reactive skin is better at six to eight weeks. We will tell you honestly at the appointment rather than book you in more often than your skin needs.
Can I combine it with anything else?
Many clients pair it with a brow or lash appointment or book it a week or two before a wedding or event so the skin has time to settle. If you are having bridal hair with us we can schedule both. Book beauty therapy at our Mortlake SW14 salon and mention padding scrub facial in the notes and we will allow the right time.
