How do I maintain a modern mullet at home?

Almost always it is drying and product. If you let the back air dry flat against your head it sets flat. Rough dry it on medium heat with your fingers lifting at the root and dry the back away from the head not down. That alone fixes most of it.

Two or three times a week for most hair types. Daily washing strips the natural oils that give a mullet its movement and makes the length look fluffy rather than textured. On non-wash days damp your hands and reshape rather than restyling with more product.

A light texture spray or sea salt spray on damp hair then a small amount of matte clay or cream at the ends only. Avoid heavy wax and shiny gel because they weigh the back down and make the fade look greasy. Warm the product between your palms first so it spreads evenly rather than clumping.

The sides move faster than the back. A fade or taper tidy every two to three weeks keeps the contrast sharp. A full reshape including the back length and the corner point every six to eight weeks. If you have a low taper you can stretch the tidy a little longer because it grows out softer than a skin fade.

Yes. Skip the salt spray because it can dry curls out. Use a leave-in or curl cream on soaking wet hair scrunch and diffuse on low.
