Where can I get a good men's haircut near me in London?

Quick answer
Most disappointing men's haircuts come from asking for the wrong cut rather than a bad barber. Pick based on your hair type, how it grows, and how many minutes you will actually spend styling it. A standard men's cut runs 30 to 45 minutes; a fade or first mullet closer to an hour.
I want a men's haircut near me but honestly I don't know what to ask for. I just say short back and sides every time.
That is the most common reason men end up disappointed and it has nothing to do with the barber. Start from your hair rather than from a photo. Is it straight wavy or curly. Is it thick or fine. Does it have a cowlick or a strong natural parting. Those four answers rule out about half the cuts on the wall before anyone picks up clippers.
Mine is thick and slightly wavy and it goes puffy at the sides.
Then you want weight removed at the sides rather than length removed everywhere. A taper or low fade solves the puffiness at the source. A textured crop or a taper mullet would both work well on thick wavy hair. What you do not want is a one-length short back and sides because that is exactly the cut that lets the sides flare out again by week two.
How much does styling time come into it?
More than anything else. Be honest about it. If you will give it two minutes and a towel dry we cut a shape that works dry and messy. If you will spend ten minutes with a dryer and product we can cut something with more height and structure. A cut that needs a routine you will not follow is a bad cut for you even if it is technically perfect.
And face shape? Does that actually matter or is it a myth?
It matters but less than people think, and it mostly affects height and side weight rather than the cut itself. Rounder faces suit a bit more height on top. Longer faces suit keeping the top slightly shorter and the sides a fraction wider. We adjust within whatever cut suits your hair type rather than choosing a different cut entirely.
What do you charge and how long does it take?
A standard men's cut is around 30 to 45 minutes. A fade with a full reshape or a first mullet takes closer to an hour because the consultation and the finish matter. Current prices are on our booking page. Come to 73 Lower Richmond Road Mortlake SW14 and tell us those four things about your hair plus your honest styling time and we will recommend the cut rather than waiting for you to name one.
